  1. I've put a temporary twenty four hour ban on you for your unnecessary, child-like and rude post towards @Dayfid in the 'Pictures of You' thread. I'm not sure if it was meant to be a joke, but given the lack of a relationship you and Dayfid have it definitely didn't come off that way. While I can handle the negative shit like that which you post, other users can't necessarily, so please try and keep things more positive when you return. Thanks!

  2. It's been a big couple of years for newcomer Bebe Rexha, who first hit our radars in 2013 as co-writer of the smash hit Eminem and Rihanna collaboration, 'The Monster'. Since then, Rexha has skyrocketed to new heights with features on G-Eazy's 'Me, Myself & I' (which peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100), David Guetta and Nicki Minaj's 'Hey Mama' (which hit #8 in the US) and Cash Cash's 'Take Me Home' (#5 on the UK charts), as well as through a truly stellar EP I Don't Wanna Grow Up, released in May of last year. Now, Rexha has teamed up with another big name for what is surely expected to be her breakthrough solo single - 'No Broken Hearts', which features go-to rap girl Nicki Minaj. First teased mid-way through last year when Rexha promised that fans could expect a "big female rapper" on her next single and Nicki tweeted a portion of the lyrics, the single has been long expected by fans of the up-and comer. But does it live up to the expectation? Check it out below and read our thoughts after the jump! Following the variations of dance-pop she's explored with past tracks like 'I'm Gonna Show You Crazy' and 'Pray', 'Hearts' is definitely intended to be the formal introduction of a new sound for the singer. Bebe first debuted her new R&B stylings a few months ago with the sultry slow banger 'Atmosphere', which was sneakily uploaded and swiftly deleted from her SoundCloud within hours. But 'No Broken Hearts' is a far cry from the slinky, sophisticated space-age stylings of that track, opting instead to play out like a slower version of 'Hey Mama' with it's pseudo-Caribbean snares and synths. In some ways, this is probably a smart move given the prevalence of this sound lately - check out tropical house tracks like Justin Bieber's 'Where Are Ü Now' and R&B jams like Rihanna's 'Work' for more on that - but it also makes the single feel somewhat redundant and definitely seems like a step back from Rexha's previous work. The lyrics themselves are pretty standard for a top forty song, with Rexha repeating "No broken hearts in the club, more drinks pour it up, cos we gonna get it popping tonight" to an almost annoying extent. She's definitely done better with the bittersweet ode to alcoholism 'I Can't Stop Drinking About You' or vengeful 'Cry Wolf'. Nicki's rap itself is pretty decent and perfectly radio-appropriate, featuring what surely must be a contractually obligated reference to her 'MYX Moscado' range of mixers, but after we've experienced some of her best work on features - namely, the legendary 'Monster' - we can't help but be a little disappointed. There's little to love here apart from a reference to Minaj giving them "MILF teas - they be sweating me head bands and gym tees". Minaj does her job well, but does little to go above and beyond the call of rent-a-rapper duty. All in all, the track's fairly decent, and we can see it being a hit in certain sections of The Bronx (no tea, no shade). But this is far from Rexha's best work, and definitely not the best way for her to introduce herself to the general public in a big way. To us, it almost seems like a waste of a Nicki Minaj feature which would have been equally as good on previous songs like 'Cry Wolf' or 'Gone'. What do you think of Bebe's new single? Did it live up to your expectations, or should she have stuck with her previous dance-pop sound? Let us know in the comments section down below!
  3. I love it tbh! My favourite is 'Illuminati Sex Tape', that beat is hot.
  4. Both of her albums are barely mediocre. But Selena Gomez's album Revival is flawless and it's available for only $9.99 on iTunes now!
  5. I'm super excited for this, but only if Queen Julie is involved as the main star as she ought to be. And Imma petition Disney to give Raven a starring role as well!
  6. For the second time in five years, R&B songstress Ciara has chosen to leave her record label. The departure was noted in the press several weeks ago, but only officially confirmed recently when fans noticed that the roster page on Epic's new website fails to include CiCi's name. Despite this, it is definitely up to date, definitely including recent signees to the label such as Puff Daddy and Jennifer Lopez, who only signed to the label a fortnight ago. According to sources, Ciara requested to be released from the label and was granted leave by label head L.A. Reid. However, it's likely that the underperformance of last year's Jackie, which hit only #17 on the charts despite a platinum single 'I Bet', was at least partially to blame for the split. This isn't the first time CiCi has been released from a record label contract. Following 2010's Basic Instinct, which the singer was forced to fund with her own finances after her record label lost faith in the project, she asked to be released from her deal with Sony in order to reunite with her original mentor Reid at Epic Records. She released two albums with Epic - 2013's self-titled Ciara and 2015's Jackie. According to recent interviews, the singer is already hard back at work on her seventh album while she copes with being a single mother and prepares her upcoming wedding to Russell Wilson. We're interested to see what path she'll take with her next album - whether she'll sign with another label or if she'll go indie to the detriment of her commercial success like former R&B heavyweights Myá and Ashanti. What do you think, readers? Was leaving Epic a good choice? What should Ciara be doing to revitalise her career? Let us know in the comments section down below!
  7. I understand the reasoning behind wanting to attack someone in the same way as they attacked you, but if she wants so desperately to be taken seriously as some kind of feminist icon, then she needs to learn to rise above the petty bullshit and respond to haters in a calm and professional tone instead of perpetuating exactly what she's trying to fight.
  8. Clearly you haven't heard the best song of 2011. :morning: But honestly, while I do technically agree with Amber's statements, I feel they're super disingenuous coming from her and I really think she's just jumping on this whole feminist bandwagon for attention. I find it so hypocritical and disgusting that she goes on slut walks and talks about women embracing their sexuality and then tries to use Kanye's sexual habits as criticism against him.
  9. Basically this tbh. There's been so many situations where I haven't found people that attractive until I've gotten to know them, and then I've found then super cute. I think looks are important, but looks are subjective and what you find attractive is super variable depending on personality.
  10. She's like Hollywood's answer to the vocaloids!
  11. You guys are too good to me. Thank you for your flawless work! Look forward to getting a million cover requests for all my flops soon!
  12. To be fair, I only got through one minute of 'Immortal' before falling asleep, so I see where Charli's coming from.
  13. Another day, another slay from @High Princess.
  14. This isn't even shade, but I love how @Cypher's last post reads like an upset mum's letter to her country club's manager.
  15. Let's hope so. I just don't want her to be stuck in label limbo like what happened with Poe all those years ago.
  16. I forgot about the EPs! Do you know if there's actually any difference between the tracks on those and the album versions? They sound exactly the same to me, just more LQ.
  17. I can't say I love the title as much as XCLUDED, but the cover is gorgeous! I love the pop of colour and it looks super official!
  18. Matilda, making duplicate accounts is against the rules.
  19. I think Ariana is kind of missing the point of the whole situation, but oh well.
  20. Probably a friend who's busy organising a world tour, working on her third studio album, setting up a record label and writing hits for A-list stars like Gwen Stefani.
  21. Was it really never released? What a shame! She should do a tenth anniversary vinyl edition.
  22. Completely agreed! I don't always agree with everything Charli does (largely the tour cancellation and the relentless Gaga shade) but she took the higher ground here so she has kudos in my book. Good for her.
  23. Charli XCX and Marina & The Diamonds have become embroiled in a predictably petty Twitter dispute over a recent photoshoot that XCX participated in. The formerly friendly English alt=pop stars and one-time collaborators on fan favourite 'Just Desserts' took shots at each other over social media recently following a photoshoot that XCX worked on with photographer Charlotte Rutherford for a new fragrance she has concocted with Impulse UK. The drama began on Rutherford's page, when an innocent upload turned into a battle ground after Marina (@marinagrams) called out the singer for their allegedly similar styling. Marina, of course, is alluding to the album artwork for her single 'Immortal', which was also shot by Rutherford and which featured a similarly tropical kitsch setting. Not content with one social media complaint, the star who once found success with single 'Primadonna' later took to Twitter to sub-tweet XCX, with a passive aggressive remark which seemed to insinuate that the style was in some way original. XCX took the higher ground in a longer response posted to Instagram and Tweeted to Diamonds, going on to clarify "fyi i'm not shading/dragging/beefing. that's not something I do. I'm just being direct and setting the record straight." Given the duo's penchant for a Tumblr-inspired aesthetic and the ridiculously large egos of both involved, we're not surprised that the two have had a falling out, although the pettiness behind such a large rift is undeniably bizaare. Rutherford's imagery, while beautiful, is hardly unique, and to claim that one image was ripping off another would be to say that every Terry Richardson black and white polaroid was a mimicry of the last. What do you think of Diamonds' accusations? Are her actions justified, or is she overblowing the situation? Let us know in the comments section below!
  24. Can I just say how happy I am that we don't have any crazyily anti- or pro- feminists on this forum? I just read through the Kesha thread on GGD and some of the responses on both sides... :yuck:
