TMZ has learned from local law enforcement that Salling’s body was recently found in Sunland, California, close to where the actor lived. According to their latest report, he was found hanging from a tree. The actor had been awaiting sentencing after being convicted of possession of child pornography. The case began in late 2015 when he was arrested on these charges and was arraigned in 2016. His hearing was set for March 2018, where was expected to receive 4 – 7 years in prison as part of a plea deal, according to TMZ. The outlet also says the actor cut himself last year in a suicide attempt, but called his roommate and emergency services after panicking. Salling was 35 years old. The actor didn’t have many projects outside of Glee— he appeared in an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger in 1999 and the TV movie Rocky Road in 2014. He also dabbled in music, having released two albums called Smoke Signals and Pipe Dreams in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Honestly, I find this heartbreaking. Obviously pedophilia is wrong, but that doesn't stop the people who engage in it from being real human beings with their own inner turmoils. If anything, I'm very sorry to his family for all that they are going and have been through. His family and friends must be so devastated and I'm sad justice won't be served. On a side note, I really dislike how the media refer to child sex abuse images as 'child pornography'. He was someone who people have said was himself abused as a child, who struggled with desires that he knew were unnatural and so he tried to hide them away. When I scroll through Tumblr I sometimes see risqué or even nude selfies taken by people who look to be underage, but I don't see that as child sex abuse - they can't be abusing themselves. Those children were sexually abused in those photos/videos, and his possession of them makes him just as disgusting and as much a part of the problem in my eyes. It's unfortunate that he was abused when he was younger and I feel for him in that regard, but a shitty past is not an excuse to literally possess CHILD PORNOGRAPHY. As I said before, I find it hard to feel sorry when that is a part of his history. Just because there's a victim doesn't mean that he's the abuser. By your logic, everyone who viewed the Logan Paul suicide video is just as responsible for that man's death as the man himself. I'm not sure I agree with that. I would assume that most of the people who took those photos would do so because they're achieving some kind of sexual gratification, regardless of whether one person or 100 people download it.
