I'm so tempted to make a joke about people attending Jason Aldean concerts deserving to die but I'm gonna restrain myself because I'm trying to not be a ho this week... :yaskween:

But honestly, as sad as I find this I find it difficult to be sympathetic towards Americans when they struggle with terrorist attacks. I love America and all it stands for but the gun laws over there are ridiculous, and the majority of the population seems to agree with them. Every time a mass shooting happens people talk about stricter gun regulations for about a week and then forget about it again. If Americans really want to stop these horrible kinds of events happening they need to get their shit together and control their firearms.

I think I'm the only one that totally agree with what you said! Yes it is sad, shocking and scary that things like that happen but at the same it truly shows that having guns with you is unecessary if it's to do such terrible things... Terrorist attacks are already bad, we don't need other crazy peoples to create a bigger mess!

(Also you definitely didn't deserve to be called a sick person from that person with 14 downvotes.)

I am literally in tears since I heard the news. This act of violence was so unnecessary (as every act of violence). I don't understand why people have to be that way. It's seriously fucked up. I wonder if the shooter thought for a minute about the mothers and father's of those killed people. Some of them might even have babies who became orphans now. This is disgusting. I can't even imagine how my mom would feel if I went to a concert and never came back. What is the fucking purpose of this hatred? What do such people score by killing others? I am truly devastated by what happened.

@Ari, @Reflecting and @jaycoolguy, do y'all have friends or family who were involved in this shooting? Because if not you have no more reason to care about these twenty people who died than the 465 000 people who have died in the Syrian War over the past six years, and yet y'all are acting much more sensitive about this than you would if I made a joke about dead Syrians... :cackle:

I 100% agree with you! Maybe it's because we're from countries where guns are much more difficult to receive? Here in Australia at least, guns were 99% outlawed back in 1996 and since then we haven't had a single mass shooting. Meanwhile Americans suffer through a mass shooting pretty much every week and yet they still won't even consider changing their policies on firearms. It's sad and sick. :idkher:

I would have said the same thing if it was a joke about this, Manchester, 9/11, Syrian children, anything.

People have died and not voluntarily, lives and families are ruined because of it.

This and any other situation isn't something that should be taken the piss out of, let alone not even 24 hours after it happening with the death toll still going up.

I don't care if it makes me come across as a 'cupcake' or someone who can't take a joke, it's a serious thing that's happened and trying to poke fun at it and that they deserved to die because of the concert they attended is disgusting.

And also in reply to your question, yes, I actually do know someone who was there who's thankfully safe. but even if I didn't, I would have still said the same thing to you or any other person who tried to poke a joke at this situation.

I do agree with you on the gun laws, I've never heard in Australia about mass shootings like that over here and it's because guns are much harder to come across, you have to know how to use a gun, have a mental and police check, all these things before they'll even let you purchase a gun which I agree maybe America needs to tighten up the laws against guns as it's sad this keeps happening it happened at the gay club (I forgot where in America) but that was very upsetting and now it's happened again, and it's happened over and over in the past so maybe they shouldn't make guns as easily accessible - I'm not saying we're perfect over here but I've not heard of anything like that happening here.

That said, I'm not saying people deserved to be shot ever especially innocent people! But maybe if the laws were tightened things like this wouldn't happen, and then it wouldn't be so upsetting to so many people.

Sorry to hear about your friend, I guess I wouldn't have made this kind of a joke to anyone who was personally affected by this tragedy. :cackle: But it sounds like we have very different opinions on comedy because I'm pretty much of the opinion that anything's fair game regardless of how long ago it happened. If you can't laugh, you'll cry, so we might as well take this crazy world for what it is and joke about it if we can! ;)

Australia made our gun laws super strict in 1996 since the Port Arthur massacre, and ever since then we haven't had a single mass shooting. Imo, that really says all you'll ever need to know about what the right solution for America is going forward. The fact it's even a discussion over there is sad. :idkher:

And the thing about gay people not being able to donate blood is some stupid and outdated rule that goes back to the AIDS epidemic, I have no idea why it's still even in effect tbh. :vacuum:

I dunno the history but it sounds about right, idk why America won't even adjust the rules sliiightly not even as strict as us just adjusting something making sure the person is sane, or something!

That gay donate blood rule is so stupid, the whole aids thing is getting better! and just cos people have sex doesn't mean you get aids.

Although this is sad - I didn’t know being gay meant you had to not have sex for a year to donate blood, what exactly can gay people get that straight people can’t?

https://hornetapp.com/stories/10877 (yeah don’t judge I like the news on there lol)

Likely due to the [unfortunate] stigma of AIDS/HIV that is attached to the LGBTQ community, despite it being proven heterosexual couples can contract it, as well.

This is still so devastating. I've met one of the victim's families, as they came into my work this weekend, and they look utterly lost. Press have been following them so they require police escorts, etc. It's a sad situation. My friend is going to Vegas this weekend for a concert, so I'm worried fucking sick.

Aw that's so sad, I'd be heartbroken if I met one of the families. Regardless of the gun laws people were still injured for no good reason other then seeing someone in concert and it's just sad.

I hope your friend will be ok <3 I dunno if I could go so close after having something that big happen, but ill keep them in my thoughts & prayers for you!

I nearly broke down; their faces held nothing in them. Blank faces and no body language. It was horrifying. I couldn't imagine.

And I'm sure he will be OK! I went into Boston post-marathon bombing, and you can't let the fear stop you from living your life.
