Platinum Weird (Kara Dioguardi)

Platinum Weird is a musical collaboration formed in 2004 between Dave Stewart and Kara DioGuardi. It is also the subject of an elaborate hoax placing the band in 1974, including a half hour mockumentary produced for television network VH1 and a series of bogus World Wide Web fan sites and related false documents for the 'lost' group.

Make Believe is the first album by Platinum Weird. To tie in with the band's back-story, it was marketed as a "lost" album from 1974, with vocals credited to fictional lead singer Erin Grace. In reality, the album was written and recorded in 2005 and 2006, with vocals by Kara DioGuardi. The album features Ringo Starr on two tracks.

In a September 2011 interview, Dave Stewart stated that "the actual Platinum Weird record never actually came out!" Originally, the bonus disc that came in Best Buy copies of the album, was the actual album that was supposed to released. It was out of fun that Dave and Kara "recorded some versions of these songs as if it was the early

I also made a thread in the request section, I'm having a hard time finding this album, SPECIALLY the Best Buy extra CD :( I hope someone helps me with this.

Omggg, thank you for reminding me of this band! I remember hearing about them ages ago when I was looking into Kara's songwriting but I've never actually heard any of their songs! I love that they came up with a whole concept behind the band and put so much work into it. 'Will You Be Around' legit sounds like a Fleetwood Mac song, I love it. :hail:

I know :D

I hope you can help me getting their songs, they only released 1 album, it's on iTunes (the "old" style album), while the "modern" style album is only available on Best Buy :(

Omg, kill us. :'( Lemme see if I can find it somewhere out there! It's weird that she was actually pretty big in the US at one point due to American Idol, yet this never blew up...strange.

I used to have a copy of this and it is INCREDIBLE. The song writing was fantastic and the overall sound is sort of like the Disney pop/rock sound of the early to mid 2000s (like Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan and Ashlee Simpson (no surprise they all worked with Kara lol)).

If anyone can find it again we'd all be in for a treat. I found these on Tumblr - Avalanche is my favourite of these 4 but my most favourite was Crying At The Disco which I can not find.

It's a lost release, as the "modern" tracks are exclusive for Best Buy, while the "old" tracks are easily found on iTunes.

Let's hope someone can share them :D

Omg, I just checked out 'Taking Chances' and it's sooooo good! I knew it sounded familiar as well, which is when I realized that Celine Dion later recorded the song as a single.

Also, I'm trying to find the album somewhere online right now, but all the Torrents for it are dead. :'( I'll let you guys know ASAP if I find a working link though!
