It's surging every day now. I don't know what's going on, but I hope it keeps the momentum. 07/12 - 150.691 (+18.612)

SLAY continues to rise and had its second best day yesterday 07/10 - 116.886 (+13.250) Keep streaming

SLAY passed 100,000 streams today on Spotify. It also has increased pace for the last 3 days. Does anyone know if it was added to another Spotify playlist? Spotify updates 06/29 - 12.849 06/30 - 24.574 (+11.725) 07/01 - 37.931 (+13.357) 07/02 - 47.228 (+9.297) 07/03 - 53.993 (+6.764) 07/04 - 61.020 (+7.028) 07/05 - 67.795 (+6.775) 07/06 - 74.416 (+6.621) 07/07 - 84.180 (+9.764) 07/08 - 92.792 (+8.612) 07/09 - 103.636 (+10.844) By the way, I made a test and Spotify does count when you stream a song more than 10 times a day, even if it's on repeat, and even if your compute is on mute. Those streams still count for a song's total number of streams.

Spotify didn't put SLAY on the New Music Friday playlist

It's #13 on iTunes Brazil, I know it doesn't mean anything, but would be cool to give a #1 for Bonnie to celebrate. Let's make it happen guys 13 NEW Bonnie McKee - SLAY Brazil iTunes Top Songs (kworb.net)

It's been believed that Spotify only counts 10 streams per day from each account, but I think that's only for their charts. I think if you let it playing all day it still counts to the song's overall number of streams and Bonnie gets paid for all of them. I'll let it playing all day on Spotify, Youtube Music and Apple Music (which I just got one month free). Also bought it on iTunes.

Fifteen Songs J. Lo Shamelessly STOLE
napoleon commented on Main Pop Girl's article in Throwback Thursday
This is not stealing and it has become an annoying criticism of JLo that has dominated Twitter, especially after the incredible turn she had on her career after the Hustlers film, the Super Bowl performance and her acclaimed It's My Party tour. People are jealous that she's becoming more respected as an artist and are looking for a reason to hate on her. The use of uncredited vocals was nothing new by the time she started her music career. I can think of the 1985 Diana Ross album Eaten Alive, which has noticeable, uncredited vocals by Michael Jackson and Bee Gees all over the record. This was just a stylistic choice, nothing shady at all. People have turned Ashanti into a victim when in reality she is friends with JLo and has defended her from these attacks.- 32 comments

Nicole Scherzinger - Puakenikeni Jennifer Lopez - Louboutins; Fresh Out the Oven (this one I don't think was ever released on digital, not even on iTunes) Ashlee Simpson - Follow You Wherever You Go; Can't Have It All (exclusive bonus tracks from Bittersweet World) James Bay - Confirmation (exclusive bonus track from Electric Light) Fergie - single version of Life Goes On (the album version has an annoying interlude at the end) Janet Jackson - Who (japanese bonus track from All For You) I think these are the songs that I love and would appreciate to be able to stream on Spotify

Bebe Rexha talks about Bonnie in this interview promoting her new album (starts at the 52:35 minute): "I feel like she's underrated too, she's a beast. More people need to know who Bonnie McKee is."
-
I don't believe her and I won't get my hopes up, but if she releases it, I sure will be supporting her and will force all my friends to listen to it.

I loved this.

Did Bonnie give up on her TikTok career as well? She only posted 1 video in the last 3 months. And that was quick after her most viral video there, with almost 5 million views last September. Could we delude ourselves into thinking she's taking some time off to better plan a series of TikTok posts to promote and lead up to the release of the album this summer?

I'm feeling pretty happy right now in my country (Brazil). I know life is hard here for a lot of LGBTQ people, especially trans women, and that I'm incredibly privileged to be a white cis man, who also comes from a relatively wealthy family. My life has always been easy, but since 2016 I've been feeling depressed and anxious about politics and how it affects life for other people. It all changed with last year's presidential election. I know the conservative threat will always exist, and that they might eventually return to power, but right now it's a relief to have Lula as our president again. I feel like I can enjoy my life and be happy knowing that we're on the path for progress again. We have a lot of problems in our country that are unlikely to be solved in my lifetime but overall I really like living in Brazil, I wouldn't move anywhere else, and recently I found out that I also enjoy my hometown and the simple life here. I tried living in the big city, going out at night, dreaming of getting famous, but that's an overrated lifestyle. I recently learned to finally love myself and enjoy the company of my family and childhood friends.

I didn't know that. I thought it was an obscure song from her discography and that I was the only one who loved it

She actually signed the contract in 2020 if I remember correctly. She was signed to the local Warner label for her brazilian records, and then in 2020 signed this contract with the American label to launch her career in the U.S. But her rant makes no sense because they poured a lot of money and promotion into her cancelled Girl From Rio album (later re-worked as Versions Of Me). They released at least 8 singles leading up to the album, paid for a lot of high profile featured artists like Cardi B, DaBaby, Missy Elliott, Khalid and Saweetie, put her in several high profile movie soundtracks like Fast 9 and Sing 2, not to mention putting her in studio with in-demand producers and songwriters, and plenty of television appearances. She has no right to claim Warner didn't promote her shitty music. She's doing this for attention because her career in the U.S. flopped miserably (thanks to her lack of talent, originality and personality) and now Warner won't waste another fortune in her career, so she's desperate...

Watching their podcast together I was under the impression that her brother was straight

It's crazy how some songwriters and producers will be in demand colaborating with plenty of artists and then no one wants to work with them anymore. Kara DioGuardi used to be on the credits of so many albums I loved in the 2000s, and you just don't see her name anywhere now. This industry is brutal. ☠️

Anitta is not a real artist, and pure trash as a human being. I would recommend Pabllo Vittar because she actually features traditional brazilian sounds in a lot of her hits, so she brings something original, and you would not be supporting a problematic person. But the greatest brazilian artist right now is definitely Ludmilla. She's super talented and original, has a great voice and is a great songwriter, and also navigates throught several brazilian genres of music. I also love Majur

I don't believe the Epic masters are what's holding her back, honestly. Bonnie has also promised albums that she produced independently and she never releases them. For me it appears she doesn't want to put out music quietly like small, independent artists do. I think she wants a big release with a lot of attention, whether it's from a deal with a record label or by becoming popular on TikTok. Which is frustrating to us because we know how talented Bonnie is, and how much potential she has to slowly build a significant fanbase if she was constantly releasing her music.

Other than Anitta losing, the greatest moment of the ceremony was definitely Kim Petras' speech. It was very emotional. I understand she has made problematic comments about Kesha and Dr Luke, which I hope one day she apologizes to Kesha for, but I was still so happy for her. And Sam letting her give the speech. It was so beautiful. Also happy for Lizzo winning something. As for Beyoncé, the last album I truly enjoyed from her was Sasha Fierce, but it's hard to deny she deserved at least one Album of the Year award for any of the albums she released since, considering how revered they all were. They all seem to have made more of a cultural impact than the ones that won.

1 Years of Kisses by Anitta. Whats your favorite bop in it?
napoleon replied to hipxdontlie's topic in Jukebox
It's embarrassing how desperate for attention she is. I guess that's what happens when you have no talent, you have to stand out any other way.
