  1. Hahaha this made my day πŸ˜†πŸ˜… And did I LIIIIIEEEEE??? Why does this legit look like her living room y'all 🀣 ____________________________________________________________________ Btw, coming back to singer/songwriters releasing their own versions of songs they'd sold to bigger artists..... it just occured to me our good sis (and Bonnie's darker twin sister) Skylar Grey actually put her original demo of Love the Way You Lie on the iTunes edition of her 2013 sophomore album where it appears as "Love the Way You Lie, Pt. III (Original Demo)," as well as the solo version of Coming Home (titled "Coming Home, Pt. II") -- she'd also released an EP with the aforementioned songs in 2012 (titled The Buried Sessions of Skylar Grey) which in addition to LTWYL and CH includes one additional demo of a song she sold to Lupe Fiasco -- "Words" So this makes me wonder why it'd be such a big ordeal for Bonnie to do the same with Hit Me Up and Waking Up Diagonal

  2. McScam is highkey more accurate at this point I believe she said (in a response to a comment left by a fan) that AG most likely won't be on it. It's no big deal though, completionists like us can just add it to the album in iTunes or make our own playlist with AG on it. I'd prefer for it to be on the record by default myself, but not at the cost of having to wait longer for someone somewhere to clear American Girl for her as well. As for Hit Me Up and Waking Up Diagonal... I'm not a legal expert and I still find the whole re-releasing already released songs territory quite confusing, but imo, she could easily include them by pulling a Taylor Swift--i.e. re-record them/have them reproduced, then slap (Bonnie's Version) after the title, done. The only recent instances I can think of are Avril Lavigne's I Will Be and Breakaway. It's definitely not unheard of though: Joan Jett's Cherry Bomb was originally sung by The Runaways lead singer Cherie Currie, and Jett later recorded her own version which she released while she was in Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. Then, Carole King's (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman was first released by Aretha Franklin in 1967, and King included her original version of the song on the 1971 Tapestry album. Something similar also happened with the Alexandra Burke song Tonight which, for some odd reason, was released a year later by Romanian singer Inna (who got away with it by making it seem like she just sampled the song when in actuality it's literally the exact same song). I'm sure there are loopholes and all sorts of tricks she could employ if she really wanted to have HMU and WUD on the album from treating her versions as covers and/or samples.

  3. She is not including American Girl; she confirmed on TikTok. The legal stuff is that they need to clear her masters for release. She was talking about Waking Up Diagonal on a Podcast last week as if it died. I love both songs, but she is definitely not including either. And quite frankly, there is no reason for her to. That's how she operates, there might be a new trend for artists to re-record songs they wrote, but to her, WUD died the day it was released by Cheryl. It's a psychological thing. It didn't get to be her song in the first place.

  4. Pretty sure she confirmed "Somebody's Gonna Get Hurt" was never going to be the album title, and the producer/engineer who listed that title on their website had just worked on that particular song. She's said many times that she had the entire album "ready to go" before she left Epic. Whether or not she landed on a title or finalized the artwork is another story. I remember back in the day she did an interview saying she had a title in mind but she wasn't sure. I wouldn't be surprised if it was "Don't Get Mad, Get Famous" as that was sort of her mantra and goal at the time. I said this a few pages back, but I really think that if (and it's a BIG IF) the album comes out, she should just call it "American Girl". Even though that song won't be on the album, it's the title that everybody associates that era with, and at least if people search "Bonnie McKee American Girl" in future it'll come up. It would be a nice way to finally close that chapter and move on.

  6. β€œIt’s done.” The album is finished. She is still fighting. Please send her some love this is probably difficult. By the looks of it though it seems to have gotten better for her.

  7. To think we really went from "driving my truck to Target to drop off physical copies of the album as we speak" to her lol'ing about this mess? Yeah, the album is not coming out this decade, let alone this year. ______________________________________________________________________________ Thanks so much for posting the podcast @zaynphallic!! πŸ’— I'm glad she spilled some fresh new tea! First of all though.... She's overdoing it with the Cobra Man promo, it's actually putting me off of listening to their music.... put that same energy into YOUR career, baby girl. Her love life in general I'm not crazy about... The reason why American Girl is her biggest song isn't solely because it had a major label backing... it's because it's a genuinely great pop song with glossy polished production and stellar melodies. Thorns could've been released by Interscope and it still would've flopped. If a song's great it WILL find its audience big label backing or not. If it's underwhelming no amount of promo and publicity can save it. This has been said many times, but lemme say it again--Epic is SO incredibly dumb and trash for shelving the album and STILL putting obstacles Bonnie's way 8 years later. For God's sake just LET HER LIVE. It's not like they're using those songs for anything or anyone, they're literally just sitting there. 'From the Vault' --> "...that's what the kids are calling it" --> GIRL, WHO? Cuz we sure as hell ain't calling it THAT. Imo, most people making their own version of the Epic album are naming it Electric Heaven or American Girl. From the Vault sounds terrible lol. I concur that bad timing and incompetent management (or should I say mismanagement) are sadly running themes throughout her career--however, her making horrendous business decisions is also part of the problem. If the second (new) album is completed, mixed, all the artwork done, AND she actually owns the rights to the music and has the songs cleared WHERE. IS. THE. ALBUM. and why is she not putting it out first (when she can)? It'd help tie us all over until the Epic album can be released and give us something to listen to. Maybe you're the problem, baby girl. I hope she's no longer working with the Bombastic manager because not following the EP up with a full-length record was a HUGE mistake. Everybody wanted to hear more. Good to hear she's no longer following trends, but I'll believe it when I hear it cuz those last few singles are the very definition of following trends and what's worse, by the time she put them out they already sounded dated (Thorns, Mad Mad World).. Let There Be Love isn't the smash she thinks it is Is it one of the better songs on Lotus? Sure. Was it already generic and dated by the time the album came out? YES. And that's why I think Christina didn't bother promoting it because she knew it just wasn't IT. She loves the Stud Muffin music video yet it was taken down and it's currently not available anywhere πŸ’€ I screamed, but the fact this is the only likely scenario we'll hear new music is

  8. New Podcast: A few highlights: "Teenage Dream" was the most difficult song to write. Bonnie came up with the title. She and Katy talked about working together on the "Witness" album, but Katy wanted to work with a new team, and Bonnie was having a "mental breakdown at the time" (lol) so they ultimately felt it wouldn't be a good fit. She feels like the Epic songs are some of her best work, and that she was in her "peak era of writing pop hits". Said she believed in the album with all of her heart, but the label didn't understand it. She says the people at Epic at the time "were not really confident in themselves as a label", and if something "didn't immediately skyrocket, it was on to the next". Says "American Girl" was doing really well, but as soon as it started to dip a bit they jumped ship. She says she was "livid". Says the label agreed on "S.L.A.Y." being the second single, and so Bonnie landed the opening spot on the Karmin tour herself, and fronted the money for the tour herself, before Epic changed their mind on "S.L.A.Y." and left her to pay for the tour on her own. That's when she called her manager and said she wanted out. She talks about the leaked demos. Says she really appreciates that people give a shit about the songs, and it gives her hope and makes her feel validated, but it's also scary and violating because she doesn't understand how people got her hands on them. Says she's still dealing with shit trying to get the masters cleared. She built a whole set with her bare hands "for the fans" for the "S.L.A.Y." music video. I'm assuming she's talking about the vault she teased on Instagram. She says a couple years after everything fell apart at Epic, she still wanted to put out "S.L.A.Y." and a friend of hers was like "nobody says slay anymore". Lol. (I wonder if this is the same friend who convinced her to release "Thorns"?! I smell sabotage.) However she feels like the word "slay" is making a comeback (πŸ˜‚) and this is the universe telling her "slay bitch, let's go". She is thinking about calling the album "From the Vault" because she wants to be clear that these are old songs and a "walk down pop history lane". She wants to put out "S.L.A.Y." to help get some traction before releasing the new album. The new album is a lot darker, vulnerable and personal "but still BOPS". The Bombastic EP was supposed to be a full album, but her manager at the time convinced her to make it an EP. (πŸ™„) She said she wishes she put more songs on it, and after it was released her manager "didn't love it" anyway. She says a lot of time she listens to people who think they have authority on taste, but they don't. (Lol no kidding). She says she really didn't want to give up "Naked" and "I Don't Care" because they were really personal to her. She wrote a song with Miley for "Bangerz" that didn't make it because it "wasn't that great". She thought about keeping "Let There Be Love" for herself because she knew it was a smash, and was annoyed Xtina didn't really do much with it. She talks briefly about "California Winter" (yasss), and says she tries to push it every year because she believes it will be a classic. She had to do a one-shot video because there was like "two weeks to Christmas" and she didn't have time to edit it. (We love our last minute queen). The host brings up "Stud Muffin" (screams!). Bonnie said her friend worked at Quest Bar and had a budget for a song/music video. 🀣 She says it's "so dumb" but she "loves it". She ends off by naming her Top 5 songs she's written/co-written... #5) "American Girl" #4) "Forever Drunk" by Peach PRC (surprising to see this here, since Bonnie hasn't really promoted it. But she says Peach is a former stripper and sent her a video stripping to "American Girl" lol) #3) "Wide Awake" #2) "Roar" #1) "Teenage Dream" (says the title has really gone on to make it's mark in pop culture history, and "the title was mine.")

  9. I’m so thirsty for new Hilary music, released or not 😭 The unreleased This Heart songs that leaked a few years ago are SO good! I really want more songs from those sessions.
