A jury of six women returned the verdict moments ago in a Florida courtroom, acquitting Zimmerman of 2nd degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. If convicted, Zimmerman had faced up to life in prison. Zimmerman was charged with 2nd degree murder after shooting and killing Martin in a Florida suburb in 2011. Zimmerman -- a community watchman -- claims he shot Trayvon in self-defense after Trayvon attacked him. Trayvon was unarmed at the time. A firestorm of media attention has surrounded the case from the beginning -- with many celebs like Spike Lee, Roseanne Barr and LeBron James claiming the shooting was racially motivated.Honestly, I'm not sure what to think about all of this. I'm guessing the jury must know about some evidence we don't, because otherwise I don't see how they could acquit him?Maybe it was just not able to be fully proven though.
