  1. Quick one today: Here’s the OG file for the “Superstar” instrumental, that leaked a couple years ago. Not much to say other than it’s probably one of the best BTR instrumentals and is awesome to have. This song in general isn’t appreciated enough! Big Time Rush – Superstar (Official Instrumental) https://krakenfiles.com/view/8iqNFsiQzs/file.html Next week’s update will be a brand new version of the infopost, which I’m very proud of and can’t wait to finally put up. Fair warning, there’s not much in the way of new titles and info, as the weight is moreso in the details. It’s basically a step-by-step walk through the BTR recording process from (well before) day 1. Prepare to learn more than you ever wanted (or needed) to know!
  2. The SoundCloud album songs were from one account named "nickmusic". It was very likely to have been an internal sharing link that an unfortunate employee forgot to private. With a couple exceptions, everything else was sourced from a fan who had hacked Kendall's email and spread the songs around. I won't say who it was out of respect for privacy (the FBI ended up investigating them), but if you do some digging you can probably find them.
  3. Very excited to be able to share the full “Confetti Falling” track demo, which I had posted a shorter version of not too long ago. It had unfortunately been deleted before I was able to download it (full explanation here). A couple weeks ago, however, an extremely kind user from our very own PHF got in touch with me and sent along the original Audiosocket file, that they were able to retrieve with some talented know-how. They wished to remain anonymous, but deserve an especially warm thank you on behalf of our community. You’re the best! Note: The file is a little weird - there’s about 14 seconds of silence before the track starts, but you can hear the “ending” of a previous loop in the first couple. It's in a lossy format called .opus, so I didn’t want to clip it off myself. Enjoy! Orange Factory Music - Melodic Dance Pop (Full Instrumental) https://krakenfiles.com/view/3likzwJIyj/file.html
  4. Hi there! That page spreads a lot of misinfo, unfortunately. The post you linked is just my list with things randomly moved around and a bunch of rumored titles thrown in. There’s too many for me to cover right now, but if you’re interested, that would be a cool idea for a future “deep dive” post - I could go through and explain each one in detail. Think I can debunk about 90% of them.
  5. This is great, thank you! If you don't mind, I'm actually going to add your link next to the masterpost - it's a perfect option for people who want a pre-set iTunes collection and don't want the hassle of sorting everything themselves. And thank you for all the love lately, from everyone It honestly means a lot and more than anything, I'm just glad that anyone other than me can benefit from all the hours I waste doing this 😅
  6. Well, Infopost 2.0 is taking longer than expected, primarily because it’s turning out to be a lot longer than expected. For better or worse, I keep finding new things to do, and my perfectionism demands more time in the editing room… so bear with me folks. Shooting for the end of the month at maximum, but hopefully no more than another week or two. In the meantime, I’ve been having a blast doing these “mini deep dive” sorts of posts, so I’d like to make them a weekly affair. Today’s subject is another songwriter demo that’s been lurking in the dusty corners of the web since as far back as 2010. For reasons that should make sense pretty quickly, I’ve long suspected it to have been connected to the guys, and by a stroke of luck, I think I’ve finally confirmed it! The song in question was written and sung by the Canadian musician Nasri Atweh, who already has a leg in BTR’s discography, having co-written a couple of their earliest cuts, “Big Night” and “Beautiful Christmas” (the latter of which we even have his demo of). Unlike something like “Star U Are”, which would be rendered pretty innocuous without the flashy ‘Big Time Rush Demo’ attached to it, Nasri brings us a rather different case - that’s because the title itself is, well, “Big Time Rush.” For most artists, that might seem like a joke, but here in the BTR fandom, instead I must clarify that no, we’re not talking about that “Big Time Rush” – this is another “BTR” altogether! Nasri - Big Time Rush https://krakenfiles.com/view/t8jBeHopce/file.html Even though this isn't the beloved and iconic theme song we all know and love, it’s honestly not hard to imagine a parallel universe where this charming, upbeat tune could have been the one playing while a certain four cardboard-cutouts jump around their album booklet in the classic opening sequence for Big Time Rush. Would it be unreasonable to wonder if Sony might have commissioned many different concepts for a theme, before settling on the one they did? If so, perhaps this was Nasri’s attempt at such an idea, and would offer an explanation to what this odd little curio is. Regardless of my own speculation, thanks to an all-but forgotten Facebook page used by Nasri in his earliest pro-songwriting days, we now know that, at the very least, it was indeed written for BTR! With all that out of the way, as with some other recent entries, please keep in mind that this demo was only written for BTR in hopes of having them choose it to record; it does not mean that it was. In fact, if you’re buying into my theme-song theory, it’s probably even more likely this one wasn't, given another would ultimately have been chosen to serve its purpose. I want to particularly emphasize this to those who are more... eager to re-share some of the content I archive here. I don't mind if you do (not like they're mine in the first place), but please, do be careful not to neglect the context. Fighting misinfo is pretty much the reason I’m so dedicated to this in the first place! Stay tuned for next Tuesday's update, which will bring a very unexpected happy ending to a previous post, courtesy of an amazing user here.
  7. That was from the same Ustream as the original "Drive" snippet (11/24/2011). Both were scrapped BTR tracks that only Logan had started vocals on at that point in time. The later She Drives remix, by comparison, was made a couple years later using Logan's old work from the BTR version, and was (most likely) going to be released separate from the band's name.
  8. Not sure if it's 'pop' enough but I nominate "Animal" by PVRIS And can't pass the opportunity to plug the comeback kings...
  9. Jesus, his accident was horrific. Apparently one of these flipped over and crushed his leg... I'm no doctor but can't imagine that'll be easy to save.
  10. Welcome! Thank you for the kind words To answer your question, yes, there is another version of "She Drives" - the reason it's not in this thread comes down to semantics, basically. After RAS played the original snippet (the one in the masterpost) in his Ustream, the Tumblr crowd went AWOL over it and kept harrassing him about releasing it. However, they never finished the vocals, and for obvious reasons Nick and Columbia were never going to greenlight it anyway, so at some point I think he just wanted to get something out so people would shut up already. That's essentially what the second version was. He ended up taking what he had of Logan's vocals and making a remix out of it; the snippet we have of that came from another one of his streams, from January 2013. The plan was to release it for free on Facebook the next month, but nothing ever came of it, probably due to rights concerns. I personally don't consider it "BTR" because he wouldn't have been able to release it under their name, so it technically would've been "RAS ft. Logan Henderson", if that makes sense. That's why I didn't put it in the masterpost. Again, though, doesn't hurt to link it for people who are interested (or disagree with me, because looking back through my notes, there's probably room for debate about what it really is.) RAS (ft. Logan Henderson) - She Drives (Remix) - LQ snippet https://krakenfiles.com/view/3GGRYHP0R7/file.html
  11. Hello! Yeah, the info online about that is... not great. It's kind of similar to the "Burnin'" demo that @Otaku posted about, in that it was leaked around 2011 under the name "Alex Jay - Star U Are (Big Time Rush Demo)", but what the "Big Time Rush Demo" means isn't very clear. Best case scenario, it was a song A&R grabbed for the guys to record, but it's more likely it was only ever pitched to them, if even that. I haven't been able to find anything on an artist named Alex Jay so I honestly have no clue myself. The reason this one is more well-known, though, is because a lot of people think Logan does the backing vocals in it - while they admittedly do sound similar, it's just Alex Jay/whoever the artist is singing in a higher key. Thanks for bringing this up - this song should definitely be archived here anyway! Alex Jay - Star U Are
  12. Hm, try it now - probably because I put a period in the filename.
  13. Today I bring you two rare, unreleased versions of the “Boyfriend” remixes, featuring our favorite Nick boy band alongside their most natural collaborators, Snoop Dogg and New Boyz. These are not new leaks, but are not very well-documented, and were missing from the masterpost before. The reason being, they’re a bit confusing: I had learned about them early on and dismissed them as fan-made, but after a more thorough re-visiting, turns out that’s not the case. Big Time Rush (ft. Snoop Dogg) – Boyfriend – Early mix https://krakenfiles.com/view/DR2QNtYyHn/file.html First up is an earlier version, seemingly, of the official single with Snoop. If the classic R&Bspot.com watermark doesn’t make it already apparent (both that it’s a leak, and that perhaps I was not previously as attentive as I claimed), this got out a couple weeks before the official release, around January-February 2011. The differences come down to a re-ordering of everyone’s parts in the first half: Unlike the final, where Snoop opens the first verse before Kendall, here he doesn’t jump in until the start of the second. There’s a not-so-smooth transition from that right into James’ part, omitting his first line. Maybe I’m just used to the original after so many years, but I can see why it might have been changed. Big Time Rush (ft. Snoop Dogg & New Boyz) – Boyfriend (Mashup) https://krakenfiles.com/view/Qgfy2AIbeH/file.html Secondly, we have what seems to have been the source of my original confusion in regard to 'official-ness'. When I had sorted through the eight million different versions of this single that exist officially, this one wasn’t accounted for, and I figured it was someone’s re-edit that got swept up and mistaken in the haze. That was until I came across a promo CD called S.I.N. – New Music Program - #08, which was apparently distributed by the Pellegrino Entertainment Group, an affiliate of Columbia Records. Not only is this mashup the second track on there, it’s also preceded by a unique ID recorded by the guys, which, sure enough, is legitimate – the Internet Archive has a (very brief) 2 second sample of a familiar voice leaving a message for us. I’m honestly not sure where something like this falls on the spectrum of ‘official’, but if it was distributed by Columbia, even if indirectly, it’s probably worth acknowledging. And since S.I.N. was an internal CD and not for sale, I’d say it’s reasonable to call it unreleased. One last note- I wanted to let you guys know about some updates I made to the masterpost. On top of a few minor additions, I replaced “Cruise Control”, the “Crazy for U” demo, and “Everyday Girl” with better files, so if you’re as anal about qualities as I am, you might want to grab the new ones. I also replaced most of the LQ snippets from Facebook/Instagram etc. with higher-quality rips. I’m currently working on an update for the original infopost as well, which will be done sometime in the next week or so, hopefully sooner rather than later. I’ll make another reply when that’s done, and after that I’m going to take a much-needed break from this project. I’m pretty proud of how far it's come!
  14. Big Time Rush - Call It Like I See It (Official Instrumental) https://krakenfiles.com/view/4E79OHLlL4/file.html
  15. Orange Factory Music - “Melodic Dance Pop” (Instrumental) https://krakenfiles.com/view/tbT9T2FNla/file.html This is the instrumental concept demo for “Confetti Falling”, written and produced by OFM. It’s pretty much the same as BTR’s version (particularly the 2011 mix) but also adds some nice strings during the bridge. Bittersweet story behind this – This post is brought to you by the ancient MP3 site I miraculously dug this up from. I had originally found it a few months ago, while sorting through literally hundreds of pop instrumentals that OFM had up for license on a site called Audiosocket. At the time, I couldn’t figure out how to rip it from the player, and didn’t want to cough up $100 or however much they wanted for access, so I just set it aside until I had more time to play around with it. Not two days later, I returned to find that the site had apparently undergone a massive restructure, and after chilling there unbothered for like nine fucking years, OFM’s entire page and catalogue were gone. So I guess I’m to blame for cursing it out of existence. (seriously, what are the odds??? ) The worst part is, that version was longer than what I posted, as it had the second verse too like in BTR’s, in addition to being much higher quality. (The rest is the same as far as I remember) Anyway, first world problems aside, here’s the original link from my bookmarks on the off-chance it might still be recoverable somehow: Orange Factory Music "Melodic Dance Pop" - Audiosocket Is anyone good with web stuff and know if there’s a way? Wayback Machine and the like are the extent of my knowledge, and they won’t work because they don’t typically save subpages like these.
  16. The Jackie Boyz' demo was probably recorded for reference purposes - I don't know a lot about Mishon but it seems more likely his would have been recorded with intention to release it. BTR would have picked it up after his was scrapped. I know it's not technically a 'writers demo' but sometimes people ask when I leave stuff like this out. I don't think there's any harm in having it there for the sake of completeness.
  17. He recorded his in 2010, before BTR did theirs. I haven't looked into it much yet
  18. I've updated the credits for "Anything" - as it turns out, Ryan Tedder's demo had them in its OG filename before being lost to time. Looks like he wrote it with Evan Bogart, Noel Zancanella, and Jerrod Bettis. At first glance, I thought that meant it could have started life as a OneRepublic scrap, but it sounds as though Ryan and Evan primarily wrote for other artists when they worked together. Not sure if it was written specifically for BTR or not. (Huge thank you to @Permanent Blackout for finding and sharing all this on the BTR wiki!) This reminded me of something else I found not too long ago: Besides of course MSBWU, "Anything" isn't the only song of Ryan's that has some form of ties to BTR. There's also another song he wrote with Josh Hoge called "If This Is Love" that was submitted to their A&R in 2010. Interestingly, both Ryan and Josh have their own demos of it. Here they are! Josh Hoge - "If This Is Love" (Demo) https://krakenfiles.com/view/TsFJoH5CtZ/file.html Ryan Tedder - "If This Is Love" (Demo) https://krakenfiles.com/view/RRw787AzUA/file.html I have no idea to what extent this was considered, if it even was at all. But I thought the demos were worth sharing, if for no other reason than Ryan Tedder is one of the songwriting GOATs. Anything is one of my absolute favorites and I would die to hear whatever else Ryan might have produced for them!
  19. Kinda random but appreciation post for "Rewind Your Heart"... I finally got around to assembling all the files for the 'whiteboard tracklist' and can't believe I haven't heard this one yet, it's an instant favorite! Outside of the Epic album, what else from Bonnie's songwriting/demos have EDM inspiration or just similar vibes? 👀
  20. Re-upping an old leak: Here is a 30-second snippet of Bonnie's co-write "Stay Right Here", which was recorded by Adam Lambert, almost definitely for his 2012 masterpiece Trespassing. It sounds amazing! https://krakenfiles.com/view/5M8UzPis2O/file.html
  21. Well, they are the BTS Army after all 😞 I won't particularly miss them but still wish them the best of luck, I would not choose to spend a day in a military of any sort, much less years. I can't imagine being forced to.
  22. Never knew about that BAM demo, I've added it! Could anyone link the best available files for Daydream? I remember there are a couple snippets, of varying qualities. I really, really hope we get to hear Avril's version in full glory one day😭 Praying that UMS gets the same 20 year treatment as Let Go and we get it as a bonus track, like with "Breakaway"!
  23. Same here. I've always heard the fear comes from losing sales, but you have to wonder how much it could really affect them. Unless it's a situation where the song is notable enough for media outlets to report on it and spread the word, I feel like people who are invested enough in an individual artist or the general industry enough to follow and listen to leaks are, if anything, more likely to buy them.
  24. This is both an infopost and masterpost for the best person ever, Miranda Cosgrove. She had a successful but short-lived music career from 2007 to 2011, releasing one album and two EPs, as well as a few extras on the official iCarly soundtracks. Thank you for putting so much time into this, it's excellent! I love physical media but one thing I don't miss is how tedious it was/is to collect these random B-sides and bonus tracks. Glad that doesn't happen as often nowadays with global streaming, but it's a shame that so many older releases are stuck in regional limbo.
