Very interesting concept! The moon is such a romantic image to me and I'd love a whole album based around it where each song represents a new phase of it. I'm sure it's just gonna turn out to be another 'Telephone (Part 2)' situation where fan speculation makes us read way too far into everything and we end up disappointed by the lousy end result, but I like it as an idea anyway.

I think the anticipation is what's killing it. If she'd released these lacklustre songs after only working on them for a couple of months like she normally does it would be fine, but given that she's had over a year to work on these tracks we all expected better.

This tbh. I never expected the album to smash because RiRi is definitely more of a singles artist, but even the singles from this era have been pretty lacklustre this time around...I'm not sensing a successful era in any sense of the word tbh.

I've never actually worked with other people in a steady band or anything...I think it would be good in a way in that it would kind of force you to get your shit together and create, but at the same time I would hate the pressure and lack of control you get in a group environment.
