In a Facebook post, Petite Meller gave some context on this song: "The first thing you need when you’re born in life is Milk. It comes to you and goes away. What if you could swim in a bath full of all your needs? That would be a surplus of enjoyment, close to a psychotic seizure, in French: “Jouissance”, the danger in the pleasure of meeting the réal. “Milk Bath” is a request from a girl to a boy to stop fantasising and come and meet her in reality, as she is left alone waiting in his fantasy." The video for “Milk Bath” combines science and music. Meller and her team reached out to scientists at Cornell University to help find locations for the video shoot. When they decided to shoot at Lake Retba in Senegal, the university asked Meller and her team to take a sample from the lake to aid in their research into what turned the lake pink. In her Island Records profile, Petite Meller is described as: "…a singer-songwriter, producing Nuvo-Jazzy pop in French and English. Leading it with angelic childlike vocals, oddly enough compared to a post-modern Mia Farrow with a Brigitte Bardot allure." Meller found her musical footing as the keyboardist and background singer for Israeli electro band Terry Poison, before taking a step into the unknown in 2012 and beginning the “P E T I T E” project. On 11 August 2012, Meller released her first solo track in the form of a cover of Vanessa Paradis' “Joe La Taxi”. After releasing several more solo tracks, such as “PC” and “Icebear”, Meller received moderate commercial success with her track “Backpack.”The track saw a video, directed by A.T. Mann and Napoleon Habeica, which was nominated for “Best European Music Video” at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Two years after its release, the video had garnered 425,000 views. Having found a way into the spotlight, Meller featured in multiple magazines and fashion shoots before returning with “Baby Love” in January 2015. The track went viral due to its vibrant and exotic video, shot in Africa and inspired by Brigitte Bardot’s 1956 film And God Created Woman. A year and a half after the video has premiered, it had already amassed 8 million views. “Baby Love” was the first glimpse at Meller’s debut album Milk Bath, and was followed up with the equally as exuberant tracks “Barbaric”“ and “Milk Bath”, as well as a collaboration with Australian dance duo Pnau, “Lil' Love”.
