  1. MARINA - LOVE + FEAR (2019) Tracklist: Believe in Love Emotional Machine You Karma Please Don't Call Me Demons + Angels Water Under the Bridge Handmade Heaven The Art of Letting Go Too Afraid Soft to Be Strong End of the Earth Disconnect with Clean Bandit; Target bonus track I also wanted to add There's Nothing Wrong with You, True, Absent Love and Baby (Solo), but I think those 12 tracks work just fine as they are. It makes a much more solid record imo. Now, if you add these as b-sides to the singles, that would be a cool thing too. Singles from LOVE + FEAR: "Please Don't Call Me" with Absent Love as b-side "Karma" with What I Wanna Do as b-side "End of the Earth" with Superstar as b-side "Handmade Heaven" with There's Nothing Wrong with You as b-side "Emotional Machine" with True as b-side

  3. What is your least favourite album of a select artist's discography and why? Whether it's what you consider the "worst", or perhaps the weakest album of [artist]'s discography, why is it your dislike the album, and how would you improve it? (I hope this question doesn't cross into the fix the era thread, though it would be cool to have more postings in there to how you would fix your records of choice) Note: This thread is entirely opinion based. Please do not engage in negative wars or fights or whatever, at the end of the day our tastes greatly differ. Also there is a big difference between "worst" and "weakest", with worse being a harsh read for the given quality, whereas weakness shows potential but the overall presentation could have been better. P.S. These albums I (mostly) don't consider the worst of an artist's discography, I really like C,XOXO, I've never heard Takin It Back and I also like Solar Power and Witness too. Discuss.

  4. Oh dear...This kind of stuff makes me so sad and also squeamish to see. It breaks my heart that people can think there's no way out of their current situation other than to hurt themselves. I hope she's doing better now and is able to accept all the love that the fans are giving her

  5. Not gonna lie, I thought this was gonna be a LOT worse when you brought it up but it's still pretty disappointing...Seems like it's just designed to burrow itself in your head as deep as possible even if you hate it I know a little Blackpink, LOONA and 2NE1 but my early K-pop girls were Girls Generation! I still remember watching that I Got A Boy mv and it was like a whole new world

  7. Off the top of my head: Britney Spears - Britney Jean Truly a dreadful album from beginning to end, although there are a handful of tracks that could have been good in another lifetime. Work Bitch, Passenger, Alien and Perfume all have potential but are wasted by vocals that were recorded while poor Britney wasn't even in the room. Even on the good tracks, poor production choices and messy Autotune lets down the rest of the song. The rest of the album is a jumbled mess of poorly written filler, D-list collabs (including a duet with her sister which is undeniably the worst song of her career) and a complete lack of any musical direction or concept. Britney was completely checked out of this era, and when you look at the material they gave her to work with I can't blame her in the slightest

  8. Lemme get this one out of the way... The Life of a Showgirl - Taylor Swift This album pretty much feels like she wrote 12 songs that were "good enough" to be released and called it a day, the visuals are sooo good (the bedroom ones from the Honey / Ruin the Friendship visuals could've been a Guilty as Sin? MV) but the music just isn't it after 7 or so months I can comfortably say this is hands down her worst era and bar maybe 1 song (Ruin the Friendship) I have had no desire to return to it. I have more I want to say but it would just be beating a dead horse with a stick atp so nvm.

  9. Okay, lets start this off with a few Kim Petras - Feed The Beast (2023) Unfortunately there's a good handful of bops on here, but there's a lack of creativity and sense of direction behind this body of work, a fault that is not Kim's of course, but this problem later bleeds into its technical late parent album Problematiqué, originally scheduled for 2022. That's kinda all there is to it, other than a few handful of good songs, it's her worst album in my opinion because there's a lack of creativity and direction, and you can tell the label didn't know what to do with her either, rough as hell for a debut album. Though I like to think the album name is a inside joke towards how it was being on her label, given how Detour was rather open and metaphorical about industry hardships amongst other topics. Jane Remover - Indie rock (2025) Technically a mixtape (which counts, it's still a full length body of work), Indie rock is Jane's deeper delve into the roots of her critically adored Revenegseekerz album. However, the mixtape, which it's title is a nod to the tank top worn in the "Dancing with your eyes closed" video, butchers the quality of which made Revenegseekerz such a great album in the first place. Though it's technically produced to not "outdo" the original album, she only confirms that this record is not a satire project based on the new wave of fans she earned from Revengeseekerz by teasing a sequel. Indie rock is terrible because you cannot hear a single thing she's saying almost all the time, and the beats are the saving grace at most times. Very few select tracks where she's not trying to emulate the wave of talentless white mumble rappers who think the underground is unique, it's almost a disgrace to the art of rap in itself. Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday 2 Whilst I did enjoy this album when it had first dropped, it's aged very poorly. This album does not stack up to the legacy album that is it's predecessor nor does it match the quality that was given by The Pinkprint and Queen, which are by far her greatest works to date. Pink Friday really raised the bar for female rap and was a threat to the industry on release, as well as the unique channelling of rap AND pop music in such a camp manner that would be more explorative for Roman Reloaded. So a sequel album would have probably had alot more to say in this stage of her career, right? Pink Friday 2, clocking in at a bloated 22 songs, where less than half the album has some form of decency. The album feels more like a playlist than it does an album, which Nicki "takes pride in" making, but to me this album just feels like a throwaway record to get fans off her ass about releasing an album. It's messy and nearly disgraces the original Pink Friday. The album had potential to perhaps be a reflective album that doesn't aim to outdo her previous bodies of work, but to still do what she's best at. Some songs could have even nodded to points of her career, thus Pink Friday 2 would have made alot of sense if it were to be an album that was dissect of her impact up until that point, but it doesn't, and then the name feels like a cheap gimmick. And also the fact 13/22 songs have samples and only few of them work... yikes. And not to mention the album's constant revising, delays and the cd and vinyl tracklisting differing from streaming, because it only further cements how much lack of care was put into this record. And whilst we're on the topic, can artists please just release ONE version of an album, instead of doing multiple tracklistings for the cds, vinyls and streaming? It's irritating as fuck. The tracklist of an album is important to curating the listening experience. Now, if I were to fix this album, and perhaps make it sound more listenable, here's how I would do it:

  12. Haha for me is the opposite! Besides No More Suckers and Life Is Strange, I love FEAR. But what I truly adore from this album is its outtakes lol, Water Under the Bridge, Please Don't Call Me, Demons + Angels, The Art of Letting Go... they're better than several album tracks tbh. Also I agree, End of the Earth is one of her best songs tbh

  15. MARINA - LOVE + FEAR Well, first of all let me clear: this is ironically my second most-played MARINA album, only behind Electra Heart. That said, the album itself, as is released, isn't terrible, just lazy and uninspired at times. The concept is cute, I loved the production in most tracks, and my heart is with most of the outtakes (Water Under the Bridge, Demons + Angels, Please Don't Call Me, The Art of Letting Go would have saved the album from the fandom hate), but some lyrics are from meh to plain boring (Orange Trees, Enjoy Your Life, No More Suckers) and some tracks are kinda just there without adding much to the album (Life Is Strange, To Be Human). However, it has its highs - tracks like End of the Earth, Soft to Be Strong, Too Afraid, Handmade Heaven, Emotional Machine and Karma balance this album out, and even some songs like Superstar and Baby keep the energy up. Probably some of the outtakes being placed in the album instead of some released tracks would have helped the album be much more solid, since some of its cut tracks sound way more elaborated and deep, and even close to the album's concept. I'm still trying to make my mind up with a better tracklist (been trying for years) but that's for the Fix the Era thread.

  17. Highkey wanna check this one out because I love that Manson collab, shame it was cut The only one I disagree with on here is OVERSOUL but at the same time I don't listen to it very much, so its not got much replay value for me personally but I still really like it.

  18. Ava Max - Don't Click Play I get that there was something going on with the label and overall Ava's lack of control over this release, and the way My Oh My and Spot a Fake were removed from the album but over simplified rehashes of her earlier work like Lovin Myself and Wet Hot American Dream actually made it, is insane. Not even a reorder using the 12 released tracks saves it, some songs are not it and the true gems imo (Lost Your Faith, Know Somebody, How Can I Dance, World's Smallest Violin) are dragged down by the quality of some questionable choices (Lovin Myself, title track). Also, the marketing for this era was a disaster, there was even more hype around My Oh My and Spot a Fake, so it's another reason why it was a bad decision to leave them out. The lack of cohesion is painful, and I will never shut up about how Pirouette, The Cards and maybe even older tracks like Wild Thing really deserved a spot on the album. Kerli - OVERSOUL This one is sort of 50/50, because it's only an EP. But truth be told, it was too little compared to the hype she was doing around that era. After the 21st Century Kids fiasco, Alchemise and The Witching Hour were incredible and a return to form for her - but then she decided to drop 4 out of 5 of the EP's songs as singles, and the fifth song (Warrior) was not high up with the previous four tracks. I think many of her fans believed she was going to do an album earlier in the era, and when she confirmed it was an EP, I thought we'd get at least 6 or 7 tracks, not 5 + an intro where nothing happens. However, the main issue I have is - it's pretty much a Shadow Works extension. Sonically, lyrically, even visually, it feels just like a very late deluxe edition. If we take some songs from Shadow Works and some from Oversoul, and combine them with a cohesive tracklist, an actually solid album comes from there. But on its own, Oversoul falls a little short, which is a shame considering it was released 5 years after its predecessor. Skylar Grey - Don't Look Down Okay, I know this is pretty much representative of its era (2013), but still the album is very bloated with a lot of fillers (cause, let's be real, only like 10-11 tracks are from decent to good). I think the potential was there, but there's a lot going on and the overall vibe of the album could have been condensed into less tracks of greater quality. Also, the label kinda wanted to market Skylar as this emo/weirdo/rebel/indie artist but then they have her making a song with Eminem, and then some random ballads, and then EDM drops here and there... like trying to do a little of too many different things but failing to get substance. Thankfully, this severely improves in her subsequent albums, cause for a debut album, Don't Look Down was pretty much a Don't Click Play (no pun intended) type of situation. Sia - Reasonable Woman Oh, Sia, the mess that this era was. After the Music film fiasco, the gp was already not as interested in her music (the massive success of 1000 Forms of Fear and This Is Acting would be already too much to try and replicate it). This album is strange because it has amazing highs with the potential to have been just as big as Chandelier, Cheap Thrills, Elastic Heart or Alive, but the album is dragged down dangerously by half-cooked tracks (that still had potential but sound more like demos tacked on the record) like Towards the Sun and Nowhere to Be, and also a chunk of messy tracks like Champion, Go On or Fame Won't Love You, which don't let the brilliant songs shine through (Immortal Queen, Little Wing, Rock and Balloon, Gimme Love, Dance Alone). Even worse, the weakest part of this album is, sadly, some of its lyrics. Particularly, the heavy repetition. In some songs like Gimme Love it works, but others like Go On, Wanna Be Known or Nowhere to Be, it hurts. The lyrical masterpieces of old, like those in her earlier albums Colour the Small One and Some People Have Real Problems, or those from her massive hits found in 1000 Forms of Fear and This Is Acting, are nowhere to be found in this record. And don't get me started with Meghan Trainor, I feel everything has gone downfall since Treat Myself (released version). That was still listenable, but the rest afterwards is just uninspired rehashes of her early material. All 3 Takin' It Back, Timeless and Toy with Me have very little to be memorable to me, I only listened a couple times and decided they were not for me. I really wish Meghan exploited her potential much more. The original version of Treat Myself is living proof, she can do much more than infinite doo-wop recycles of the same lyrical themes. Damn, even Title and Thank You have really solid songs to offer, but her latest output have decreased its quality considerably. I may have more, but for now let's kick it off with these

  20. ALOT of good songs on the new record but its still pretty flawed. Their previous music is better, SAVAGE - WHIPLASH was their peak imo. Dirty Work is good too and Rich Man is okay but LEMONADE does have a good handful of bangers then that awful rendition of row row your boat. its a shame because they used to be my fave kpop gg at one point. also my world and drama were meant to be their debut album but it was scrapped and released into 2 EPs instead, I listen in this order (creds to viktoria on lanaboards) Welcome to My World Spicy Salty & Sweet Drama Trick or Trick Thirsty I'm Unhappy Don't Blink Hot Air Balloon YOLO You 'Til We Meet Again Better Things [Bonus Track]

  22. if shes the primary artist and main singer in all the songs, then its a britney album. i just dont count britney jean as it's an album mostly recorded by her backup vocalist instead and disguised and released under britney's name, and britney didn't have a choice to say no to anything in her career at that point either sadly. and being marketed as a personal record (when its not) was just pure evil

  34. I don't even consider Britney Jean a "Britney" album just because she didn't record most of it. Work Bitch is a bop but it ain't Britney. Perfume and Got Til It's Gone are some of the very few songs she did, I also do like Morning Star as well I think? I don't know I just refuse to acknowledge the album exists as it's not really Britney's album. And Chillin With You 100% is the worst song.
