It’s a showdown between the two biggest pop stars in the world. The NFL wants either Taylor Swift or Britney Spears to star in the 2016 Super Bowl Halftime Show, but who will be chosen is totally up to them. Find out all the EXCLUSIVE details here!

Oops! Britney Spears might do it again. 15 years after starring in the 2001 Super Bowl Halftime Show — alongside NSYNC, Mary J. Blige, Nelly and Aerosmith — HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned that the NFL wants her to star in their 2016 Halftime Show, during it’s 50th championship game. But they also want Taylor Swift. So who are they ultimately going to choose? Well, that seems to be up to Britney and T-Swizzle.

Idk how to feel about this...Britney has a much larger variety of songs to choose from and would definitely put on a good show if she could pull it off, like she did at the Billboard Music Awards. But Taylor would probably put on a better performance overall and she's definitely more current, even if I think her songs are boring as fuck. :/

Taylor has an endorsement deal with Coca Cola, which is apparently a big no-no for halftime show candidates, since the show is sponsored by Pepsi. That's supposed to be the main reason that she's not likely to do it.

I don't really see Britney doing it either, for obvious reasons. Once Gaga has another era under her belt, it's definitely her turn, though.

Gaga was apparently already offered it the year Madonna ended up performing, and supposedly turned it down because she wasn't a fan of the lip-syncing cause. The only way I could see her accepting is if they let her sing live tbh.

Then she is fucked up and it won't work, they lip-sync for the simple reason of acoustics, the stadium is huuuuge and the stream needs to be flawless, so they lip-sync to make sure that everybody can listen to the show, and not just the middle section.

That doesn't even make sense. :stretcher: If they can blast a pre-recorded song to an entire stadium, they can definitely do the same thing with live vocals. They just want every note to be hit perfectly which imo is kind of boring and a total giveaway that it's lip synced.

Nope it is due to nipplegate. You could shout out Free Palestine or USA sucks and get the NFL in trouble leading to mega fines.

Hmm, maybe. But the weird thing is that the biggest controversies at the Super Bowl lately (Janet's boob and M.I.A.'s middle finger) were both physical actions and not affected by the microphone or lip syncing at all. :stretcher:

Well Britney's definitely got the lip-sync part down already....that's all she does now

To be honest, she's pretty much always lip synced so nothing's changed too much... :flush:

A few hours later, Britney posted this on Instagram, using the hashtag #FreeBritney for the first time:
I'm so proud of her and hoping that her new layer will lead to some significant changes! Stay strong Britney!

After 13 years of a conservatorship which she has said has left her "abused" and "traumatized", things are suddenly moving very very quickly in Britney Spears' efforts to reclaim her own independence.
Just a week after a well-publicised court day in which she addressed the conservatorship publicly for the first time, and four days after her co-conservator Bessamer Trust officially quit, Britney has now made it known that she has no plans to return to music anytime soon.
While she has yet to discuss her plans publicly, Britney's longtime manager Larry Rudolph (who, incidentally, she alluded to several times during her court hearing) has revealed the news in a letter he sent to Britney's co-conservators - her father Jamie Spears and the controversial Jodi Montgomery. As well as the bombshell about her retirement, Rudolph's letter also elicited other tidbits of information, including the fact that he hadn't talked to her in over two and a half years until today - an interesting point given that her record label has released several songs under her name in the last year alone.
While we're somewhat reluctant to trust anything that Britney allegedly said that we're not hearing from her very own mouth, Britney's plans to retire haven't come as a total surprise to fans. Last year, her son Jayden stated in a controversial Instagram live that Britney may never return to performing; and in her own Instagram posts, Britney has said that was unsure if she would ever return to music again.
Still, the news is a sad moment for Britney fans who have supported her recording career for the last 23 years.
      Your thoughts?

In a 24-minute statement against the conservatorship she’s lived under for 13 years, Britney Spears sounded off before a Los Angeles probate judge Brenda Penny on Wednesday, saying that she wants to sue her family and that she was “abused” by a previous therapist, among multiple other accusations.
“I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized,” she said, during a hearing that was livestreamed to the media by the court. “I just want my life back.” She said she wants the conservatorship, which she feels is “abusive,” to end “without having to be evaluated.”
She also said when she said she was okay in Instagram posts she shared over the past year, “I was in denial.”
Shortly after her statement, the court recessed, and after its return, the transmission was stopped.
Wednesday’s hearing came after years of near-silence on the issue from the singer, although the New York Times published a report earlier this week citing private legal documents that state she has been trying to end the conservatorship for several years, citing mismanagement by her father and the extreme legal costs involved.
A lightly edited transcript of Britney Spears’ statement follows. It includes run-on sentences and unclear statements, but the context seems relevant:
Poor Britney.  It must have taken a lot of bravery to get up in court and be so vulnerable like that.
No matter what anyone thinks about her mental state or the conservatorship, I don't see how anyone can justify having her dad as the sole conservator or not letting her choose her own lawyers or therapists or having a right to control her own pregnancies.
Honestly, I know she doesn't want to do the psychological assessment, but I hope she's able to do it and get a clear result so they can end the conservatorship once and for all. If not, I hope they're able to provide her with a new conservator who isn't related to her and isn't trying to take advantage of her.
      #FreeBritney
