The European film industry has issued a collective statement today, declaring that they will aim to increase gender equality and female representation in all aspects of the industry over the coming years.

The news was first announced at the annual Sarajevo Film Festival today, where headliners such as Son of Saul, The Lobster, and Green Man are currently screening. The declaration had the full support of European ministries of culture as well as public filmmaking funds used to produce upcoming movies. It acknowledged that “women are considerably underrepresented in key job roles in the film industry” and that true equality involved making “full use of the skills, talents and creativity of women and men alike”.

The pledge proposes to improve women’s access to public film funds, appoint females to higher-ranking positions such as director or producer within the industry and promote female-driven films as equal to male-centred projects. It also suggested that European states should study the causes of inequality and produce research on gender equality in the industry.

The never-ending Sony hacking saga has continued today, with even more leaks from the studio’s internal emails being made public – and, this time, everyone’s favourite superhero creators Marvel are getting dragged into the mix.

Sony and Marvel first cemented their partnership earlier this year, when the companies announced that they would work together to bring a new iteration of Spider-Man out swinging into the world. Now, a portion of the email that Sony sent to Marvel listing the requirements and restrictions placed on their best-known superhero has been revealed – and it turns out that Sony isn’t as progressive as we might like it to be.

The leaks reveal two sets of ultimatums that Sony placed on Marvel. The first is that Spider-Man (who has been adopted by many alter-egos, such as Peter Parker and Miles Morales) must be male, harmless (not torturing or killing unless in defense), drugless (that’s checking alcohol off too), sexless (at least until the age of 16) and “not a homosexual“.

When it comes to Peter Parker, he must be white, straight and middle class; have Aunt May and Uncle Ben fill in for his absent parents and be a master costume designer (but only when it comes to blue and red materials – no black, please).

While it’s been confirmed that the upcoming Spider-Man costume will indeed be filled by Peter Parker, Marvel honcho Kevin Feige hasn’t ruled out allowing Morales (who is significant as the first half-African American, half-Hispanic Spider-Man out there) his own day in the sun a little further down the line. However, with the upcoming introduction of Parker into several of Marvel’s planned blockbuster films, it seems unlikely this will happen soon.

The artist formally known as Ke$ha has hit another bump in the long, winding road to freedom.

The last time we heard from the queen of trash-pop, she was putting her record label Sony Records on blast for having full knowledge of, and actively concealing, the abuse that she allegedly faced at the hands of super-producer Dr. Luke. Now, the songstress’ suit has faced another setback – although thankfully this time it’s a relatively minor one.Part of Kesha’s claim is that Dr. Luke, as her manager, refused to negotiate her contract with Kenosabe Records. However, that very same contract purpotedly states that any legal disputes regarding it must be handled in the state of New York, where the label is based. Kesha’s lawyers are countering that as the majority of the incidents in the case happened in California, and that as she didn’t willingly enter into the contract in the first place, her consent to the contract should be invalid – but a judge has just ruled that any further advancements in the case will have to take place in New York.

Meanwhile, things are getting even uglier when we consider that the case and Luke’s counter defamation suit is stopping Kesha from releasing any new music or putting her name on pretty much anything. For her Animals sake, we’re hoping that this whole thing gets settled promptly and that Kesh is able to get back to work on releasing new music – and fast!

6. The time she was caught lip-syncing

Most people will remember the time when Bey was caught out lip-syncing at the inauguration of President Obama.

But it doesn't stop there. Bey's team originally stated that she only lip synced because she hadn't had time to sufficiently prepare for the inauguration, and because the presidential team asked her to. But she's also happy to lip sync at her own concerts - you know, those ones that she's supposedly spend months preparing for and which she's in complete creative control of. Mess.

5. The time she spread rumours about herself for publicity

Remember earlier this year, when all those rumours were flying around that Bey and Jay were breaking up? Allegedly, the two had had enough of each other on their sold-out On The Run Tour and taken to sleeping in separate rooms and traveling on different planes. Bey added fire to the flame when, performing an unreleased song 'Resentment' at one of the tour shows, she changed the lyrics from this:

"I'll always remember feeling like I was no good/Like I couldn't do it for you like your mistress could/Been ridin' with you for six years [...] I gotta look at her in her eyes and see she's had half of me."

To this:

"I'll always remember feeling like I was no good/Like I couldn't do it for you like that wack bitch could/Been ridin' with you for twelve years [...] I gotta look at her in her eyes and see she's had half of me. She ain't even half of me. That bitch will never be."

This sparked a whole new saga in which Jay was supposedly cheating on his wife with Myà (you remember her - the girl from 'Lady Marmalade'). But it turns out that the whole thing was just planned publicity for the tour, as revealed by Bey's father Matthew. As he said in a radio interview:

 

"You know, I know -- because we've done this, from experience -- there's a tour going on. So you have to sometimes ignite that tour. It's called a Jedi mind trick. And the Jedi mind trick fools you a lot of times. So things you see sometimes are [poof] ... All I know is the Jedi mind trick. Everybody's talking about it. Ticket sales went up."

4. The time she faked her pregnancy

Given how swiftly things are consumed and forgotten about in the Internet age, it may be hard to even remember the time that Bey was accused by many of faking the pregnancy of one Blue Ivy. Rumours started after she was seen in a TV interview sitting down, when her belly - which was, at this point, rather large, folded over unnaturally, as if there was a balloon hiding just under her dress. You can remind yourself of the video right here:

Bey did try to prove that her pregnancy is real with a few overdone shots in her documentary Life Is But A Dream - but the fact that all of the shots of her pregnant stomach were detached from her face and shot in grainy, low quality footage didn't help her case much. The jury's still out on this one, but would we really put it past the notoriously controlling Beyoncé to fake her own pregnancy?

3. The time she Photoshopped her Instagram snaps

First of all, this is a super unattractive photo to begin with, so we have no idea why Bey posted it to her official website. But take a look at the fifth stair up - something seem off? It travels along in a completely straight line (like a stair probably should), but right in between her thighs the whole thing goes wonky. It's almost like someone's done a dodgy job with the Liquify tool on Photoshop in a desperate attempt to manufacture a thigh gap. But Queen Beyoncé would never do that, right?

This photo, on the other hand, is absolutely gorgeous! At first sight, Bey looks relaxed and glowing on vacation in the middle of a sold-out worldwide tour. But look a little closer at the wine glass. Have we been drinking too much, or is the whole thing totally tilted, man? Check out her phone on the table as well. Maybe it's just the fact that Bey has one of those new iPhone's which are known to bend, but it seems more likely to us that Miss Third Ward Trill has been attempting to doctor her own photos again. #Ratchet

2. The multiple times she hijacked song-writing credits

Bey made headlines back in 2009 when she was accused of stealing her smash hit 'Halo' from OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder. The accusations came following the leaking of Tedder's original composition, which featured exactly the same lyrics and melody as Beyoncé's final version.

However, this isn't the only time Bey has been accused of hijacking songwriting credits. She was removed from the credits of her Dreamgirls soundtrack hit 'Listen' in front of an Oscars panel, leaving only the three other co-writers on the track; many ridiculed her songwriting credits on the Obsessed soundtrack song 'Smack Into You', in which the only line she had changed was "smack into you", appropriated from "smash into you"; and songs like '1+1' and 'Happiness' are remarkably similar to their original demos.

1. The time she used fur in her clothing line

All pettiness and shade aside, this was actually a pretty disgusting thing for Beyoncé to do. The singer was busted by PETA in 2006 for contributing to the violent deaths of thousands of animals when she used fur in her House of Dereon clothing line, co-run with her mother. Ambushed by a group of the admittedly over-zealous activists, Bey had little to say when questioned on her use of dead animal skin in her line. Watch here:

Bey took the situation even further, however, when in early 2013 she embarked on a strict vegan diet, and was spotted visiting a bunch of Californian vegan hotspots with husband Jay-Z. It became clear that the diet had little to do with animal activism, however, and everything to do with maintaining that 'Flawless**' body of Bey's when she was busted wearing a fur coat and suede shoes to one of the restaurants.



Apart from displaying incredibly poor taste in both choice of clothes and in her flaunting of animal corpses in a vegan restaurant, Bey also revealed her potential for extreme and violent vanity with this saga. The singer may constantly remind us how supportive of female rights she is, but it seems she has much less compassion for the animals in the audience.

Back at an artRAVE stop in Toronto back in July, Gaga was spotted with her mother Cynthia looking at white wedding dresses. She later Tweeted about the experience and called it 'THE GREATEST SHOPPING EXPERIENCE OF ALL TIME", adding, "IT WAS LIKE CARDIO AND DRUGS BUT BETTER MAYBE NOT HEALTHY BUT THE VINTAGE WAS."

2. Taylor's wearing a new "personal" ring.

Actress Sophia Bush, who co-stars in hit TV show Chicago Fire with Taylor Kinney, recently took to Instagram to post a photo of them both together; but she went to great lengths to point out that the ring Taylor wears on his ring finger is a "personal" one and not simply a prop for the show. 3. She basically confirmed it at a show.

During a performance of ARTPOP cut 'Gyspy' in Istanbul a few weeks ago, Gaga changed the lyrics in the bridge from "it's the way that you love and treat your mother" to "it's the way that you love and marry Taylor". This could just be a red herring, or a hopeful dream for the future, but it's a pretty explicit hint that the two may have gotten hitched!

Gaga and Taylor have been dating since 2011, back when they met on the set of her music video for Yoü and I (which, ironically, was written and dedicated to her now-ex Lüc Carl). 'Hello' was written by Neon herself, David Brook and James Johnson for Neon's unreleased debut album back in 2012, Beg, Borrow and Steal. You'll remember we leaked a snippet of the song a while back over on our forum.

Lady Gaga's brand new promo single, 'Do What U Want', has officially been released!

The much-hyped single, which features 90's R&B singer R. Kelly, comes from the Lady's next studio album ARTPOP. The track was released as one of three promo singles that are coming ahead of the album's release next month.

Featuring a smooth, R&B vibe and some nice production courtesy of DJ White Shadow, the song is very different from what we've heard of ARTPOP so far, sounding at opposite ends of the spectrum to songs like 'Applause' and 'Aura'.

Great news for all KatyCats - your queen's new single is out!

The long-anticipated 'Roar', Katy's brand new single off her upcoming third studio album, was released online today ahead of it's official release later this month.

Co-written by longtime Katy collaborators Max Martin and Bonnie McKee, the track is produced by Dr. Luke, who previously worked on singles like 'Teenage Dream', 'California Gurls' and 'Last Friday Night'.

The song is pretty typical Perry pop fodder, similar to 'Firework' in theme - self-empowerment and acceptance. "You're gonna hear me roar, louder than a lion, cos I am a champion," sings Perry over a beat that's surprisingly mid-tempo and acoustic for her.

The real question is: with Perry coming off a string of #1's with her last album, Teenage Dream, will she be able to continue the trend with the upcoming Prism? 'Roar' is a pretty different sound for her, and we're not sure the general public is quite ready for it yet.

Adi uploaded the new single to his SoundCloud last night. Featuring a prominent sample of  Soul II Soul’s ‘Back To Life’, the song is a pretty standard slice of disco-pop that doesn't quite live up to A*M*E's past hit collaboration with Duke Dumont, 'Need U (100%)'.

Diana Vickers' version of Lana Del Rey's 'Break My Fall' has leaked online!

The leak comes just a day after Diana confirmed that the song won't appear on her upcoming album, Music To Make Boys Cry. Co-written by Lana along with Miranda Cooper and Anthony Whiting, the song was originally meant for Born To Die; but after Lana changed the direction of that album, she shopped it around for other artist's to use.

Diana originally recorded the song way back in 2011. However, she decided to leave it off the album due to the leaking of Lana's version. Luckily, fans of the duo will get to hear it anyway thanks to the new leak!

Turns out Lana Del Rey wasn't the only one affected by Rick Nowels' security breach!

When we first jumped on Nowels' site a few months ago, we were so happy to find this unreleased gem from British pop star Neon Hitch, who you may know as the singer of the incredible 'Fuck U Betta' or as co-writer for stars such as Ke$ha and Sky Ferreira.

Neon first alluded to the song on Twitter this year when she posted, "Create your own reality, you are the Picasso of your life canvas". Of course, the song was produced by Nowels' and co-written by him and Neon. It was originally recorded for Neon's debut album, Beg, Borrow And Steal, but it seems unlikely that that album will ever see a formal release. Instead, we're stuck with dozens of tracks in various states of production that are nevertheless pretty flawless.

Avril Lavigne has debuted her brand new single, 'Rock N' Roll'!

The song was premiered on Avril's Twitter after fans managed to trend the song title worldwide. Written by the unlikely duo of Max Martin and Avril's new husband (Nickelback frontman) Chad Kroeger, the song is the hybrid of pop and rock which Lavigne is known for.

Following the failure of her last single, 'Here's To Never Growing Up', Avril is in desperate need of a hit. Will this be her successful comeback? Does the track live up to Lavigne's old songs? Let us know what you think at the forums!

Sky Ferreira fans are in for a treat today - four new songs of hers have leaked!

All of the songs appear to be old demos and are apparently not being considered for her debut album, supposedly out later this year. 'Suck My Twit' is an ironic nod to blogging culture, similiar to 'Haters Anonymous'; while 'Mariah Carey' is a strange, trippy track which possibly references the fact that Sky and Mimi have the same vocal range. Meanwhile, 'Look At You' is an electro-pop love ballad, while 'Paperdoll' is a demo of a song that already leaked earlier this year.

Yet another new song by Lana Del Rey has leaked - 'Heartshaped Chevrolet'!

The song is short at only 1:27 minutes long and seems to be in very early demo stages. There's little instrumentation in the mostly acapalla track and Lana's vocals are completely unprocessed sans a heavy echo.

Judging by the style she's going for here and the quality of the recording, it's pretty clear that 'Heartshaped Chevrolet' is a track from the Lizzy Grant era, dating it to around 2010.

Very sad news for all Glee fans today. One of the show's stars, Cory Monteith, has been found dead following a drug overdose.

Monteith was found dead in the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, the city in which he lived for most of his life and began his career back in 2006. He was scheduled to check out on Saturday, but after being absent from the lobby staff went to check up on him in his room where he was found.

Monteith's family was informed of the death on Saturday night, and at 10:30 the Vancouver police held a news conference on the story. Further details are expected in the next few days after a coronors report is conducted.

Monteith originally checked himself into rehab earlier this year following a life-long struggle with substance abuse. He had previously detailed his drug taking habits, which started at age 13 and lead to Monteith stealing money from his friends and family to fund his addiction. He was later sent to rehab at age 19 where he completed a successful run.

Our thoughts are with Monteith's family and friends at this shocking time. No word yet on what his girlfriend, fellow Glee-star Lea Michele, has to say about the incident; or how Glee heads will work around Monteith's death next season.

The hugely anticipated project is set to begin on the 19th of next month, when Gaga releases her new single (no word yet on what this will be called). That's less than five weeks away!

This will be followed by the album and app release on the 11th of November, although fans can pre-order from as early as the 1st of September. Gaga previously confirmed that the app would contain "chats, films for every song, extra music, content, gaga inspired games, fashion updates, magazines, and more still in the works". The album has been described as a "celebration of obsession" and seems to be strongly connected with Warholian ideas of pop-art.

Meanwhile, Gaga has also announced an art show which will feature Haus of Gaga works as well as pieces by Inez and Vinoodh (who worked on the Yoü And I video), legendary performance artist Marina Abramović, Jeff Koons and Robert Wilson. Monsters are definitely lucky today!

Two new Selena Gomez tracks have leaked - one off her new album and the other an unreleased demo!

The first track is 'Love Will Remember', a pretty typical power ballad with a catchy little chorus to bop along to. The only problem with this track is the dreadful intro, which sounds like Bruno Mars figured out how to use a voice machine and read out the lyrics to one of his soppiest songs into it. Rumour has it, though, that the final version of the track, which will appear on Selena's upcoming album Stars Dance, will be sans the intro. Here's hoping!

On the other hand is 'Sad Serenade', which, despite the sombre title, is a pretty upbeat song. Sadly, the track is so low quality that you can barely hear it; but from what we hear, it's really a travesty that this didn't make the album. We're hoping it will appear as a bonus track somewhere and we'll finally be able to get the HQ version!

Great news for Leona Lewis fans! The sultry songstress song 'Burn has finally leaked'!

The song was originally recorded way back in 2011 for Leona's album Glassheart. It was written by OneRepublic members Ryan Tedder and Brent Kutzle as well as Noel Zancanella after Leona requested a dance song for the album.

The song was later given up after Leona decided to include 'Glassheart' on the album, another track worked on by the trio.

More recently, fellow Brit Ellie Goulding has recorded a version of the song, set for release as the first single from her upcoming re-release of Halcyon.

The song was originally written back in 2011 for Skylar's unreleased album, Invinsible, an album title which Marilyn himself came up with. Following the release of the Don't Look Down tracklisting, fans were shocked to see the track absent from her new album.

Girl group Mutya Keisha Siobhan have released their debut single, 'Flatline'!

For those of you who haven't been keeping up with the last decade of pop music, Mutya Keisha Siobhan is the latest project from the original members of the Sugababes.

Following them all leaving the band a few years apart, the group decided to reform under a new name and aim for the top of the pop charts once again.

'Flatline', their first single, is produced by Blood Orange, who previously worked on Sky Ferreira's 'Everything is Embarassing' and Solange's 'Losing You', as well as Mutya Keisha Siobhan's cover of Kendrick Lamar's 'Lay Down In Swimming Pools'.

The track features his distinctive retro sound, and features the group's vocals building up to a flawless climax towards the end. We love it!
