Beyoncé's HBO documentary Life Is But A Dream premiered on Monday night to general acclaim from critics and fans worldwide. With an abundance of hype and 1.8 million viewers, the documentary has broken HBO's record for the most viewed program since 2004. Yet is the film actually worth all the hype? Find out below!

Life Is But A Dream is Beyoncé's first feature-length documentary and the most we've seen of her since her pregnancy late last year. Primarily shot by King Bey herself, the film intersperses home footage with interview sequences and bountiful performance scenes. Despite it's billing as an intimate look into her life, the film rarely displays anything that we didn't know about Bey, instead choosing to flesh out major points of the last few years in more detail while still maintaining quite a bit of mystery as to Bey's day-to-day life. In an interview with GQ, Bey revealed - "I always battle with: How much do I reveal about myself? How do I keep my humility? How do I keep my spirit and the reality? And how do I continue to be generous to — to my fans and to my craft?" - a sentiment echoed again and again during the documentary. Even after an hour and a half and plenty of tearful moments, the audience feels no more connection to the singer than they did before watching it.

If there's one thing that Life is able to reinforce to it's audience, it's Bey's talent - which, in this case, is both a positive and a negative. The film languors quite a bit over performance footage, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but most fans will have seen it all from previous DVD's such as Revel Presents: Beyoncé Live, 4 Intimate Nights with Beyoncé or Live at Roseland: Elements of 4. Furthermore, while the songs are often linked to whatever Bey is talking about during her interview sections, by the end of the film the performances shown are completely unrelated to the topic - as is the case with 'Resentment', a song from 2006 which is seemingly randomly slid into the show to fill up time.

Another problem with the film is it's somewhat lack of focus. Most documentary films begin with a statement, informing the audience of what dates the film was shot between and what it will be following - but Life meanders along at it's own slow pace, failing to lead up to anything or create any sort of dramatic tension for the audience to enjoy. No particularly interesting revelations are made to give the plot a twist, and overall the film stretches on for far too long.

Overall, Life Is But A Dream is overlong, disjointed and gratuitous in it's Instagrammed shots of Bey and her doe eyes. It provides only a little insight into the enigmatic performer, who has often been referred to as one of the best of her generation.

And yet somehow, we still love it. It may be her beauty, her kindness, her ferocity or her obvious talent, but it's hard not to be compelled to the 31 year-old singer and her long, mournful, wide-eyed look at the camera. While we're quite sure that almost every scene in the film has been thought over again and again to promote a new aspect of the Beyoncé brand, if Bey puts as much heart, compassion and energy into the rest of her products, we'll keep buying them again and again.

Lana Del Rey has hinted towards her potential involvement in Baz Luhrmann's upcoming adaptation simply by Tweeting out "Gatsby" recently. A similiar post appeared on Lana's Facebook page but has since been removed.

This isn't the first time we've heard Lana's name connected to the film. Last year, Lana spoke to NME about her upcoming projects, saying, “I’ve been helping compose scores for movies. So, like, there’s a movie coming out in the summer that’s set in the 1920s and it’s been fun for me to write love songs for a woman who is the star.”

If Lana is indeed writing songs for the film, she will be in good company. Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton and Tobey Maguire are all starring in the film, and the soundtrack is reportedly being worked on by Jay-Z.

Azealia Banks has officially premiered the music video for her remix of Baauer's 'Harlem Shake'! Just days after premiering her version of the song via Twitter, Miss Banks has uploaded a video of her twerking, singing into a Hello Kitty microphone, and being generally flawless in a video directed by Rony Alwin.

Leona Lewis, X Factor UK winner 2006, confirmed earlier this week that she had parted ways with her management company, "Modest!".

Following the announcement, Leona's label Syco said that the songbird is planning to record new material in the coming months following her Europe and United Kingdom tour.

"Leona Lewis is one of the UK's most successful artists, one of a few that have enjoyed huge global success in recent years selling more than 20 million records worldwide," they said in a statement today. "She remains a key priority artist for Syco and for Sony Music Worldwide."

Lewis's latest album Glassheart was released in October 2012 and peaked at number three on the UK charts. Her latest single 'Lovebird' failed to chart after selling fewer than 600 copies.

While we have yet to hear much from the Lady herself about exactly how her health is affecting her and her business, we do have some news today from GagaDaily's Emma, who met the pop singer just minutes ago. According to Emma, Gaga claimed - ‎"I'm on crutches and occasionally using a wheelchair, but I'm okay, I promise!" - a claim backed up by this image of her in Starbucks in a wheelchair released today.

Supposedly, Gaga is set to enter the hospital for surgery next week - but following her weeks of rest we have absolutely no clue what she'll be doing next. Will The Born This Way Ball be rescheduled for those who missed out on seeing the show? Will Gaga be leaping straight into the release of ARTPOP, her long awaited third studio album? Or will there be an encore performance filmed for DVD? Rumours about a DVD already having been filmed reached a peak today following the "leaking" of this supposed footage. Take a look below:

Azealia Banks and Perez Hilton have had a war of words on Twitter...again.

The 21 year old rapper and 34 year old gossip monger came to blows after Azealia and Bauer traded insults on Twitter following Bauer's removal of Azealia's new song, 'Harlem Shake', from Soundcloud - a song which was a remixed version of Bauer's own hit.

At this point, Perez jumped in with his own opinion on the controversy, saying:

Two of pop's brightest young rising stars are both set to go head to head this year, with both Bonnie McKee and Skylar Grey preparing their albums for release this year. Both McKee and Grey are famed for penning some of the biggest hits in recent years, with the former working extensively on Katy Perry's Teenage Dream album and the latter penning 'Love the Way You Lie' for Eminem and Rihanna. While Bonnie's album is gearing up for a summer release, Skylar promises that hers, which is currently in the mixing process, will be reaching our iTunes a lot sooner.

"“I am putting out an album this summer on Epic," Bonnie revealed at this year's pre-Grammy's party. She confirmed that she would be working with "all kinds of people” on her new music, including “Greg Kurstin, Dr. Luke, Katy Perry - and several people from the Teddybears,” before alluding to some high-profile collaborations. She furthermore confirmed two music videos that will premiere in March, followed by a nationwide tour to support the album. Bonnie is letting the public in on her road to success with her Idolator-sponsored web-series, 'Popstar In Training'.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the pop spectrum, Skylar Grey is prepping her album Don't Look Down for release "sooner rather than later". "I'm excited because I finally love my album," she told Billboard. "I liked it a lot, but there was something missing -- so I took an extra year to finish it. I'm so glad I did, some of my favorite songs on the album were written just in the past few months." With Eminem stepping in as executive producer on the album, an urban edge was to be expected, but Grey claims "it's got a lot of hip-hop beats, but it's not hip-hop". Don't Look Down is currently being mixed and is in final stages of production.

This begs the question: is there room enough for both girls in the music industry this year? While they both have vastly different styles, both musically and aesthetically, both are at pretty much the same point in their careers and definitely have a lot to offer. While we may not have heard much from Evanescence lately after their ill-fated self-titled album last year, we're glad to see the band is just as alive as ever. As a Valentine's Day gift to their fans, the band has chosen to release a music video for 'Lost in Paradise' today. The song is classic Evanescence, beginning with Amy Lee on her trusty piano before breaking out into an all-out rock ballad. will.i.am has officially premiered the music video for his 'Scream & Shout' music video, and it's a group affair! The video features Diddy, Lil Wayne, Waka Flocka and Hit-Boy with Britney Spears holding her own against the males in the video. The visuals themselves are similiar to the original music video's style, with heavy use of black and white sets and electronic interference taking place throughout the piece.

Lana Del Rey has unveiled her latest visual offering for promotional single 'Burning Desire'. The song, Lana's first promotional single taken from her Paradise EP, was released late last year as the theme song for the new Jaguar F-Type car, and has quickly become a fan favourite. The simple music video features Lana looking the picture of classic Hollywood in a white gown as she stands on a lonesome stage singing the song. Overlaid are images of the F-Type in action and stock Lana's trademark stock footage.

A new song from Skylar Grey, 'White Suburban', has leaked online. The song features Grey's trademark sultry vocals and dark, longing lyrics, and features a piano and little else instrumentation. The song's acoustic nature and the relatively low quality have lead many fans to believe that the song comes from Grey's 'Holly Brook' days, a stage name she performed under from 2006 - 2010.

Lady Gaga has had to postpone three shows on her Born This Way Ball Tour after a recent health scare. Due to a case of synovitis (severe inflammation of joints), Gaga's doctor has ordered her to postpone shows in Chicago, Detroit and Hamilton. Gaga took to Twitter today to reveal the news to her fans and express her sadness over not being able to perform.

The tour is expected to begin again with two back to back shows in Philadelphia on February the 19th and 20th. Make up dates for the shows missed will be announced within the coming weeks.

The official music video for Rihanna's new single 'Stay' has officially premiered on E! Online. In the simple and sparse video, Rihanna and featured artist Mikky Ekko move sultrily around their bathrooms while reminiscing on past lovers. The video marks a departure for Rihanna, who is well known for her vibrant, long and high-budget music videos.

Justin Timberlake has premiered a new song off his forthcoming album, The 20/20 Experience - 'Mirrors'!

The song, which Justin premiered after this year's Grammy Awards, is classic Timberlake - cold, harsh R&B beats, an abundance of falsetto and Timbaland beatboxing softly in the background. The song speaks about a partner who is the true other half to Justin, possibly referencing his new wife Jessica Biel.

The song, at 8 minutes and 4 seconds long, is Justin's longest song yet. At approximately five minutes into the song, it shifts into a sparser, more electronic landscape before vocals fade out completely to leave behind an echo of synthesisers.

The 20/20 Experience comes out on March the 19th. Will you be buying it?

Cascada has officially released their brand new single!

'Glorious', released today, is the group's first release from their upcoming album, due out later this year. The song is currently nominated for Germany for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest, set to take place in early March, and appears to mark a return to form for Cascada, whose last two albums fared poorly both critically and commercially.

P!nk's latest video for 'Just Give Me a Reason', featuring fun. singer Nate Ruess, has officially premiered online! In the video, P!nk alternates between lying on a bed with husband Carey Hart and singing the song alongside Ruess with vintage-style microphones.

'Just Give Me A Reason' is the third single from P!nk's latest album, The Truth About Love, following the successful tracks 'Blow Me One Last Kiss' and 'Try.' The song was written by P!nk and Reuss, and produced by Jeff Bhasker, well known for his work with the moody Lana Del Rey.

Reigning princess of Euro-pop Kylie Minogue has officially signed to Jay-Z's record label Roc Nation! According to a statement released by Roc Nation, Minogue will remain on her current label Parlophone for recording purposes, and has signed to the label purely for management services.

Fans expect hat the move stems from Kylie's desire to reach new levels of popularity in the USA, a market she hasn't been able to break since the early 2000's.

It has been confirmed that Kylie is set to be releasing a new single "soon". Her new album, the first since 2010's Aphrodite, has been in production since early 2012.
